About the roleIn joining our team as the Management Accountant, your role is to provide financial services advice across the City of Darwin's diverse and multi-faceted business units through the analysis of information to produce insight and advice and the mitigation of Financial Risk.It's a varied role, where you will be:Responsible for developing the City of Darwin's (CoD) financial planning and budgetary processes and reporting framework.Assisting in the preparation of the draft annual budget including analysis and recommendations for budget proposals and modelling.Assisting with preparing the Annual Financial Statements, including grant income/liabilities and providing budget information to the Senior Accountant.This is a fantastic opportunity to join a progressive, innovative and forward-thinking Finance team, supporting the delivery of our vision Darwin 2030 - City for People, City of Colour and our Strategic Directions:A capital city with best practice and sustainable infrastructureA safe, liveable and healthy cityA cool, clean and green cityA smart and prosperous cityA vibrant and creative cityKey Responsibilities:Play a key role in financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting, providing valuable insights that help shape business strategies and improve decision-making.Work closely with cross-functional teams and senior management to deliver accurate financial reports, analysis, and recommendations that support organizational growth and efficiency.Gain exposure to a variety of financial processes, systems, and projects, with opportunities for continuous development and career progression in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.Minimum Requirements:A Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business.A minimum of five (5) years' experience in a similar role.Experience in management accounting, preparing budgets, and internal reporting.Hold and maintain a Class C drivers' licence.Ability to obtain a National Police Records Check Clearance.*Experience in local government is desirable.
