Bundaberg Sugar is a grower, miller, refiner, and marketer of sugar and related products in Australia. The company is one of Queensland's largest cane grower and owns and operates a sugar mill in Queensland. The company's other value adding operations include Bundaberg Walkers, one of Australia's longest established, heavy engineering and foundry enterprises and Bundaberg Molasses which supplies molasses and related products to industrial and rural markets.
Due to an internal transition, an exciting opportunity has opened for a permanent full-time Management Accountant. This role will be pivotal within the Refined Sugar & Ag Products divisions, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the department's financials.
Reporting to the Financial Controller, the successful applicant will have the opportunity to participate in a diverse range of work including management and financial accounting, cost accounting, inventory control, compliance and other related areas.
This role is responsible for overseeing the month-end accounting process, preparing detailed management reports, annual operational budgets, and forecasts. Key responsibilities include margin analysis, inventory control, and identifying opportunities for contribution and process improvements.
Key Responsibilities:

Month-End Accounting Process: Manage and complete month-end accounting tasks to ensure accurate financial reporting.
Monthly Management Reports: Prepare detailed reports that involve thorough analysis of transactions and comparisons to budgets/forecasts.
Annual Operational Budgets and Forecasts: Develop and manage annual budgets and forecasts, ensuring alignment with financial goals.
Margin Analysis: Conduct margin analysis to assess profitability and provide insights for decision-making.
Inventory Control: Oversee inventory management and ensure accurate inventory records.
Process Improvement: Identify and implement opportunities for process enhancements and contributions to financial efficiency.

Required Skills and Attributes:

Mathematical and Problem-Solving Skills: Strong numerical aptitude and ability to solve complex problems effectively.
Technical Proficiency: Extensive experience with Excel and accounting software packages.
Multi-Tasking and Adaptability: Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and adapt to changing challenges.
Analytical Approach: Strong analytical skills with a focus on problem-solving in a dynamic environment.
Organizational Skills: Ability to plan, organize, and meet deadlines consistently.
Communication: Confidence in liaising with Senior Management and demonstrating initiative through lateral thought processes.
Qualifications: Relevant tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a similar discipline. CPA/CA qualification is highly regarded.
Experience: Proven experience in a relevant accounting role.
