Working closely with the Finance Manager, the Management Accountant is responsible for providing accounting, analysis, reporting, accounts receivable and other accounting support to the contract in order to assist the business in achieving optimum results in relation to service delivery, customer focus and performance against the contract KPIs.
What you'll do The role has a broad remit, with key responsibilities outlined below:
Preparation and collation of daily, monthly and adhoc reports in a timely manner (including month cost reports, weekly payroll reports).Provide analysis of general ledger (balance sheet and profit and loss).Investigate areas of over and underspend vs budget to ensure that items are accurately reflected in the ledger or followed up with operational managers.Prepare receivable claims and invoices in the month they are contractually able to be claimed.Completion of month end and year end tasks as required (including journals, accruals, ledger reviews, preparation of MSP items).In particular, the position will be required to enable:
General Ledger can be closed off by business day 2.Reconciliations are completed by the due date outlined each month.MSP invoices are submitted to the client in line with contractual requirements.AR Invoicing is done in the month we are contractually allowed to invoice (and as soon as possible after the works are complete).Accruals are captured for all known costs incurred but not invoiced each month.Budgets and Forecasts are submitted in line with the communicated timelines.What you'll bring Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) or similar undergraduate degree.Completed or undergoing ongoing professional development as appropriate (including studying towards gaining CA or CPA status).Similar role within a large multi-faceted organisation with complex and demanding contractual control and reporting requirements.Advanced computer literacy skills, including Microsoft Excel and Accounting systems.Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to think outside the box to resolve issues and implement associated process improvements.The ability to manage time effectively, in particular using forward planning and front-end loading.High level of communication and interpersonal skills and strong initiative.More than anything, you'll have a strong work ethic, a positive attitude, and a drive to provide high quality outcomes for the Social Infrastructure and Citizen Services business unit and our clients.
