As a Disability Support Worker with Oyster Care, you'll be responsible for the day-to-day care of our Participants with physical disabilities and/or mental illness.
Oyster Care Support Workers enable our participants to reach their full potential by helping them achieve their individual goals.
Responsibilities:Must be willing to travel around OrangeMust be willing to provide personal care and community access for both male and femaleMust own an insured vehicle and be willing to utilize said vehicle in supporting participantsMust have some form of experience in Disability, Mental Health, or Aged CareThose with relevant Certificate III and Certificate IV will be prioritizedA Stable and Consistent Work RosterAn amazing team to help you every step of the way.Criteria and Skills:Everyone is encouraged to apply but female applicants are preferredPrefer someone with experience in handling complex mental health needs and behavioral challengesExcellent work ethic, strong oral communication and written skills (e.g data recording and form completion)Have an empathetic and person-centered approach when supporting our Participants in their own home and/or out in the community.
Treat them how you would treat your own family memberFamiliar with de-escalation techniques for heightened behaviorsHaving a background in Support Work / Nursing and/or experience supporting a variety of NDIS participants with mental illness, intellectual and physical disabilitiesSchedule:Morning shiftAfternoon shiftPublic holidaysWeekend availabilityThe roster will be rotating, including some weekend work.
It's important that the selected support workers can also collaborate effectively with another family member in the household.
This demanding role offers the benefit of stable hours and includes weekend shifts.
