This is an exciting opportunity to join a newly formed Advancement Team at St Michael's Grammar School. The key purpose of this role is to work with the Director of Advancement to build a sustainable major gifts program to enable the School to undertake capital fundraising for identified building projects.
The Major Gifts Officer is responsible for managing and cultivating relationships with existing major gift donors and prospective donors, identifying new prospective donors, undertaking research to determine likely areas of philanthropic interest and matching those interests to the School's needs.
This is a fixed term two-year role with the potential for ongoing, commencing in early 2025. Please note this role will have some after hours and weekend work due to the nature of the role.
The successful applicant will have: Previous experience (5 years +) in a similar role, ideally with a focus in education, or be able to exhibit a high degree of aptitude, as a fundraising professional.Demonstrated success designing and implementing major donor and bequest fundraising strategies to secure results.Demonstrated ability to think strategically and deliver outcomes, including a strong capacity to conceptualise and to creatively develop a lasting program.Expertise in database management, prospect research and wealth screening tools.Advanced Microsoft Office experience (Word, Excel, Power BI and PowerPoint).Understanding of marketing and fundraising, preferably in major gifts.Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including persuasive abilities, effective listening, diplomacy and tact in dealing with donors.Ability to build rapport, interact effectively at all levels of the School and Community, and develop credible internal and external relationships and networks.Tertiary qualification in a fundraising, community relations, marketing, communications, public relations or related field, or equivalent work experience.Current Employee Working with Children Check or willing to obtain.National Police History Check (Obtained within the last 6 months).St Michael's Grammar School is one of the leading co-educational, independent schools in Australia, providing exceptional learning opportunities to students from Kindergarten to Year 12.
