The Role:
The Maintenance Services Assistant is responsible for implementing, coordinating, monitoring and evaluating an efficient and effective preventative and corrective maintenance program for buildings, equipment, and grounds at their residential aged care home and/or retirement village.
Key Duties: Ensure buildings and public areas, including grounds, are maintained to a safe, high-quality standard. Perform general maintenance tasks ensuring that facilities are safe, to standard and in good working order. Perform garden maintenance tasks ensuring garden beds, pathways and outdoor seating areas are safe, clean and free from debris, and that plants are watered. Maintain records of the maintenance and gardening programs. Ensure adequate stock items for regular corrective maintenance and gardening tasks. Assist in the maintenance of an accurate and up to date asset register. Contribute to refurbishment, equipment replacement and capital works planning. Identify preventative maintenance requirements and document a schedule for same. Ensure preventative maintenance and corrective action according to legal requirements and documented schedule, including requirements for essential services. Oversee external contract agreements, as required. Ensure vehicles at the facility are kept clean and tidy and are serviced in accordance with the service maintenance schedule. Perform on-call service (where applicable) when not on duty as directed by Respect. Any other task not defined but within the employees' skills, as directed by Respect. What you can bring to the role: General maintenance and gardening skills. Current Driver's License. Current National Police Certificate (or ability to acquire). Knowledge or experience in establishing and coordinating a maintenance program. An accredited trade certificate relevant to the position. Experience in residential aged care, retirement living or similar business.
