About the Role This position works as part of a team to perform general maintenance, repairs, manual tasks, and grounds maintenance across Carpentaria owned, leased, and managed properties. This includes approximately 30 Supported Independent Living houses and the Harry's Place campus buildings.
What you'll be doing On a day to day basis the Grounds Maintenance Officer will:
Responsibilities include:
General maintenance and repair work as required such as furniture repairs, fence repairs, patching / painting, TV bracket installations, door and window lock maintenanceBasic carpentry tasks such as installing shelves, repairing or replacing doors, building flat pack furnitureAddress minor plumbing issues including fixing leaks, unclogging drains, replacing faucets and fixturesMinor electrical tasks including replacing batteries, globes, and downlightsBasic appliance maintenanceGeneral yard maintenance, lawn mowing, weed spraying, removal of rubbish and green waste and basic reticulation installation and repairsManual tasks including moving furniture and equipmentUndertake inspections of buildings, fleet vehicles, and equipment as requiredPrepare, maintain and ensure accurate electronic and hard copy recordsInteract with tenants, staff and participants in a professional and courteous mannerEnsure all work is carried out in accordance with Carpentaria's Workplace Health and Safety Policies and ProceduresOther general tasks and duties as requiredWhat we need from you Proficiency in various repairs and maintenance tasks including basic carpentry, plumbing and grounds maintenance,Prior experience in a similar role or background in a relevant tradeStrong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of peopleDemonstrated ability to work independently and to a high standard with limited supervisionStrong attention to detail to ensure accuracy and quality workFamiliarity with tools and equipment commonly used in maintenance, general repairs and grounds maintenanceGood understanding of Workplace Health and Safety practicesKnowledge of safety protocols and practices to prevent accidents and maintain a safe work environmentThe capacity to undertake manual tasks including heavy lifting and working outdoors for extended periods of timeSound level of computer literacy, with the ability to confidently utilise email and other electronic applications such as maintenance service request systemsTo be considered for the role, you will also need to meet the mandatory compliance requirements which includes:
