Summary: The Maintenance Manager is responsible for the overall maintenance and reliability of equipment and facilities within a large manufacturing plant. This includes managing a team of multi-skilled tradespeople, implementing preventative and predictive maintenance programs, overseeing plant engineering projects, and ensuring safety and regulatory standards compliance. The role requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) such as SAP.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Leadership and Management: Lead, supervise, and mentor a team of maintenance professionals, including electricians, mechanics, fitters, and other skilled trades. Foster a culture of safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement within the maintenance department. Conduct performance evaluations, identify training needs, and promote employee development. Minimum 5 years of experience in managing staff, including hiring, training, and performance management. Maintenance Planning and Execution: Develop and implement comprehensive preventative and predictive maintenance programs to maximize equipment uptime and minimize downtime. Utilize SAP systems (or equivalent) for work order management, spare parts inventory control, and maintenance scheduling. Analyse equipment performance data to identify trends, predict failures, and optimize maintenance strategies. Oversee the execution of all maintenance activities, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and to required standards. Demonstrated experience in managing KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) such as OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness), MTTR (Mean Time to Repair), and MTBF (Mean Time Between Failures). Create a Power BI Dashboard reporting live on these items. Plant Engineering and Project Management: Provide technical expertise and support for plant engineering projects, including upgrades, modifications, and new installations. Manage capital projects related to maintenance and infrastructure improvements, from conception to completion. Ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations and industry standards. Proficient in using project planning tools such as Gantt charts, critical path analysis, and project management software. Identify and implement opportunities to improve maintenance processes, reduce costs, and enhance overall equipment effectiveness (OEE). Stay abreast of industry best practices and new technologies in maintenance and reliability. Collaborate with other departments, such as production and engineering, to optimize plant operations. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial preferred) or equivalent technical qualifications. Minimum of 5 years of experience in a maintenance management role within a large manufacturing environment. Proven leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse team of skilled tradespeople. Strong understanding of preventative and predictive maintenance principles and practices. Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS), plus if SAP. Knowledge of plant engineering principles and project management methodologies. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills. Preferred Qualifications: Certification in maintenance and reliability (e.g., CMRP, CRE) Experience with Lean manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
