Simplot Devonport is amongst the last producers of scale of frozen vegetables in Australia and has a proud history in the local community since 1942. We employ over 300 people and process products including peas, beans, carrots, broccoli, cauliflower and onions that are grown by our local Tasmanian growers and pride ourselves on providing premium quality products to our customers.
What You Will DoReporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance Fitter will perform maintenance activities (planned / opportunity / breakdown) of fixed plant and equipment to align with the site's Maintenance & Production schedules in support of optimising plant reliability, improving employee safety and continuous improvement activities.
This role is a permanent opportunity, commencing on Monday to Friday day work, upon completion of site competencies - the role will move into a shift-based roster (incl. day / afternoon / night over a 7 day operating model).
Working closely with the wider Engineering team (incl. Electrical / Eng / Control Systems) in addition to the Production team- this hands on, technical role will provide mechanical expertise to Simplot Devonport's operations to;
Identify faults and perform breakdown repairs to minimise downtime and micro-stops caused by production machinery and equipmentInspect, test and maintain machinery & equipment in production areas and the wider plantPerform general plant and building maintenance workUndertake specific project work upon requestPerform assigned tasks in accordance with all Simplot Safety, Environmental, Health and Safety programmes and goalsUtilise MEX CMMS to update work orders, search asset history and advise on any maintenance trends or opportunity for improvement and innovationAbout YouPossess a 100% commitment to health and safety in the workplaceHold a Cert III Engineering - Mechanical (or equivalent)Ability to interpret mechanical drawingsExperience with food processing equipment e.g. fillers, closers, high-speed packaging equipment, palletisers and conveyor systems would be highly regardedExperience of servicing and overhauling various pump typesWelding experience of MAW and TIG welding, the ability to use workshop equipment e.g. lathes and milling machines in addition to experience with pneumatic systemsProficient in the use of the Microsoft Windows suite of products in addition to CMMS software (Simplot use MEX)Strong problem-solving analytical skillsMotivated and diligent work ethic with a team-player mindsetWillingness to undergo a pre-employment medical (incl. urine based drug & alcohol screening)Please click on the "Apply" button to submit your application, ensuring a covering letter outlining your suitability for the role AND an up-to-date resume are included (noting that you will be redirected to the Simplot Careers portal).
