This role is integral to ensuring our maintenance operations run efficiently, safely, and in alignment with our engineering and compliance standards.In this role, you will provide essential technical support to the Mechanical Maintenance team, guiding execution priorities in line with risk, compliance, and operational needs while also supporting escalations for unplanned reactive work. You will be responsible for identifying growth opportunities for the Mechanical team, coordinating with the planning team to forecast and define future work, and leading multidiscipline teams during minor outage events.Your expertise will extend to offering specialized support to the Mechanical Compressor team, developing Reciprocating Compressor Overhaul Maintenance procedures in alignment with engineering strategies, and assisting in the creation of comprehensive Compressor scopes.This is a great opportunity to work with a highly skilled and supportive team in a dynamic environment and to make a tangible impact on our operations and contribute to Ampol's continued success.Key responsibilities:Be a Safety Champion – proactively lead by example to improve site safety culture.Provide technical support to the Mechanical Maintenance team and escalate complex technical field queries to manage effective resolution.Offer specialized technical support to the Mechanical Compressor team and develop Reciprocating Compressor Overhaul Maintenance procedures that align with engineering strategies.Collaborate with the planning team to develop and oversee Compressor Overhaul P6 schedules and communicate progress to key stakeholders.Support the creation of comprehensive Compressor Maintenance scopes and implement training plans to address site knowledge gaps.Manage resource succession planning for Mechanical team to ensure long-term operational effectiveness.Assist with escalations for unplanned reactive work.Collaborate with the planning team to forecast and define upcoming work for future planning cycles to meet safety, risk, compliance, and operational requirements.Lead and coordinate multidiscipline teams during minor outage events to ensure safe and efficient execution.Create Maintenance plans and procedures in alignment with engineering strategies.Identify and leverage continuous improvement opportunities to improve business processes in line with Safety and quality.Chair regular compressor overhaul progress meetings and ensure effective communication with key stakeholders.Key skills and experience:Mechanical Fitter / Turner or Degree/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.Experience in maintenance of Rotating Equipment with exposure to reciprocating compressor overhauls for major hazard facilities, petrochemical or oil and gas environments.Ability to identify and troubleshoot compressor performance issues.Experienced in SAP CMMS (or equivalent) and desirable exposure to Primavera P6, technical writing, QA/QC reviews, RCA's, Work pack / ITP construction and condition monitoring (vibration / oil analysis).Coordination of cross functional work teams to support safe and efficient return to service of sites compressors.Ability to adapt to new equipment and evolving industry standards.Comprehensive knowledge of safety protocols.
