ENROLMENT The College has an enrolment of over 700 students across Foundation to Year 12. The community comprises diverse family backgrounds, with 48% of students speaking languages other than English at home.
FACILITIES Our College facilities and resources ensure that students are provided with an optimal learning environment and include a Performing Arts Centre, a fully equipped VET Hospitality centre, an Engineering workshop, Gymnasium, landscaped gardens, and multiple sports courts.
LOCATION Laverton P-12 College resides within the western suburbs of Melbourne in the local area of Hobson's Bay.
SIZE AND STRUCTURE The school is comprised of seven permanent buildings and two relocatable buildings, providing a range of specialised learning spaces.
Selection Criteria Each applicant must address the below selection criteria:
Ability to carry out a physical role, with demonstrated gardening/handyperson aptitude. Demonstrated ability to efficiently manage and maintain grounds and gardens and complete grounds works as required. Demonstrated technical knowledge, expertise and proficiency in minor repairs and maintenance to the buildings. The capacity to engage and liaise with contractors on the school site as required. Demonstrated ability to maintain a database system to track cyclic maintenance, repairs and contractors. Demonstrated ability to be flexible and work independently to maintain the school buildings and grounds. Role Attendance may be required during school holiday periods which appropriate payment will be made.
Position Reports to: Principal, Business Manager, Facilities Manager
Position Purpose The Maintenance Officer Position's primary function at Laverton P-12 College is to assist in ensuring that the school's buildings and grounds are well maintained.
Responsibilities The core role of the Maintenance & Grounds Officer may include but is not limited to:
Assist with gardening and general grounds maintenance tasks. Undertake general maintenance and minor building works. Mowing as required. Assist tradesperson working on site. Checking the school grounds to ensure the grounds are safe. Keep storage facilities clean, tidy and safe. Working through a schedule of regular tasks and maintenance audits. General setting up and packing away after major events. General handyperson duties as directed. A full Driver's Licence is required. Attend meetings and Safety Inspections. Assist with moving furniture. Organisation of the school's Bus. Other work as directed by the Leadership Team.
