About the Role: We are seeking an experienced DB2 Database Administrator to manage and optimize the performance, integrity, and security of our client's database environment.
This role includes hands-on database support, system improvements, and collaboration with both internal and external stakeholders to enhance service delivery.
Key Responsibilities: Provide operational support for IBM DB2 Server database environments.
Collaborate with development teams and vendors to resolve issues and implement service improvements.
Follow change management processes and industry best practices for database support in both test and production environments.
Ensure BAU services are prioritized and maintain SLAs by addressing incidents and problems efficiently.
Work with Security Analysts to develop and implement DB2 security policies.
Manage installations, upgrades, and software maintenance with minimal business impact.
Execute failovers for database and application services as needed.
Create and maintain support documentation for operational processes.
Participate in the release and transition of new database services.
Requirements: Hands-on experience with managing, installing, and configuring single and clustered DB instances on various OS (Windows, Linux, Solaris, HP-Unix).
Strong database creation, tuning, and parameter-setting skills to meet business requirements.
Familiarity with third-party monitoring tools for database management.
Proficiency in DB2 and at least one of Oracle, SQL Server, or WebLogic in high-availability and disaster recovery setups.
Expertise in tuning DB parameters and configuring database backups.
2+ years of IT Operational Support experience, including production support for IBM DB2 (9.x/10.x) in Linux/AIX environments.
Understanding of disaster recovery/high-availability technologies like SAN replication, HADR, QRep, and VVR.
Experience supporting business-critical databases and applications.
Proficient with ITSM ticketing systems (e.g., Support Works, Remedy) and familiar with SLAs.
Knowledge of the ITIL framework, particularly in incident, problem, and change management.
