MacKillop Family Services is recruiting a Family Worker based in Walgett to provide services in Walgett and Gingie and Namoi Reserves as part of the Indigenous Parenting Support Services Team. The program exists to improve educational outcomes and increase school attendance for Indigenous children from birth to 12 years, focusing on the early years particularly families with children from birth to 2 years. This in an ongoing part time opportunity based in Walgett within our Indigenous Parenting Service MacKillop Rural program. About You The ideal candidate will have the following qualities:
Genuine commitment to holistically supporting Indigenous families and communities Ability to develop strong connections and trust with the local Indigenous community and families Ability to facilitate positive family relationships Ability to design and deliver relevant group programs Respecting the dignity of service users and maintain strict confidentiality. Selection Criteria Qualifications in Community Services or relevant discipline, or relevant work or life experience A knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal culture and values and awareness of the current issues faced by Aboriginal children, communities and families Effective verbal and written communication skills Ability to run group activities based on local need Ability to engage and work collaboratively and build strong working relationships with clients, services, community and families Competent computer skills Current driver's licence The incumbent must possess a: Valid and current New South Wales Driver's Licence. Valid and current New South Wales Working with Children Check. Valid and current NDIS Worker Check (for NDIS risk assessed roles).
