We are seeking a Machine Operator to join our team of dedicated employees at our facility in Springfield, OR, as part of our Burton Mill Solutions division. Come and grow with us! How You Will Make a Positive Impact: Operate various manual and CNC machines as instructed, including but not limited to lathes, grinders and grinding wheels, lasers, tippers, etc.May operate multiple machines at same time or as neededWork with precision grinder on straight edgesSets up machine parameters per needed specificationsLoad and unload product and/or materials from machinesPerform daily, weekly, and as needed maintenance and cleaning on machine shop equipmentDispose of scrap as instructedFill in for other machine operating positions as needed for cross-training, coverage, and production to meet business needs Actively participate in LEAN training as requested, provide observations and suggestions, implement continuous improvements, and promote and adhere to safety standards and requirementsFollow company policies, procedures, and practices and promote and adhere to company values and standards The Value You Bring:Must be at least 18 years of age and have a high school diploma or equivalent. Can substitute education with years of experience related to the essential functions of this position.Prior experience in operating manufacturing machines and working in a manufacturing setting preferred. Prior experience operating CNC machines also preferred.Ability to speak, read, and write English with ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writingAbility to apply basic math skills with accuracy (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions)Ability to learn how to use and organize applicable tools, such as a micrometer, measuring tape, magnets, and other basic tools.Ability to perform measurements and calibrationsAbility to learn to read, interpret, and understand work order, blueprints, and specificationsAbility to lift up to 50 pounds and position materials above shoulder occasionally and lift and/or move up to 125 pounds with assistance infrequently.Ability to work positively and effectively as part of a team, with behavior that upholds company values, policies, processes, practices, and standardsAbility to display and maintain positive interactions and work relationships with internal and external employees and customersMust be highly motivated and able to work with a sense of urgency while maintaining quality and safetyAbility to learn and apply operating systems as needed, including but not limited to basic skills in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel (spreadsheets)Mechanical aptitude is needed to perform minor machine maintenance and work with technicians to trouble shoot minor machine issuesAbility to display a great level of attention to detail and focus on the given task(s)Ability to wear all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)Ability to multi-task effectively under tight deadlines while running multiple machines and organizing work ordersAbility to schedule daily work requirements while unsupervised in order to meet customer needs Our Benefits:Medical, dental, and vision insurance available to employees and their dependentson the 1st of month following date of hireOptional flexible spending accounts (FSA) and health savings account (HSA)Company-paid basic life and short-term disability insurancewith employee-paid options for additional life insurance and long-term disabilityUp to $300 per year in wellness activity reimbursement401(k) with 100% employer match up to 3% of employee contribution, plus 50% employer match on next 2% of employee contribution, for a total employer match of up to 4%. 3-year vesting schedule.Up to 96 hours of Paid Time Off (PTO) accrued per year with no waiting period to use accrued time8 paid scheduled holidays and 1 paid floating holiday per calendar yearUp to $5,250 per year tuition reimbursement for continuing education This job posting is not meant to be an all-inclusive list of duties, responsibilities, and activities.
