You will work on industry-funded projects aimed at developing machine learning tools to reduce operating and maintenance costs, as well as the carbon footprint, of water treatment processes, with initial studies focusing on reverse osmosis membrane treatment. You will play a critical role in developing machine learning-based models and software packages and be responsible for liaising with various industry partners in China, including data collection from full-scale plants, attending meetings, and report writing.This role reports to Scientia Professor David Waite and has no direct reports.Position Details:Salary, Level 6: $100,354 to $107,054 per annum + 17% superannuationFull timeFixed term – 12 months with possible extensionLocation: Kensington – Sydney, AustraliaSkills & ExperienceRelevant tertiary qualification with subsequent relevant experience or equivalent competence gained through any combination of education, training, and experienceDemonstrated experience in developing machine learning algorithmsDemonstrated experience in developing front-end web applications and user interface (UI) including abilities on UI functional design, prototyping, development and UI usability testingProven high level research, analysis and technical report writing skills, including literature searches, data analysis (qualitative and quantitative) and summarising findingsDemonstrated experience in delivering oral presentations to audiences from both academia and industryOutstanding interpersonal and communication (both written and verbal) skills in both Mandarin and English with the ability to build and sustain effective collaborative professional relationshipsAbility to handle sensitive and confidential materials when dealing with external clientsHigh-level organisational skills and ability to work effectively and efficiently in a team environmentKnowledge and understanding of reverse osmosis membrane technologies is preferredProject management experience in research projects, including a track record of achievement in successfully implementing large scale industry projects is desirableAn understanding of and commitment to UNSW's aims, objectives and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines.Knowledge of health and safety responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training.To Apply :Please click the apply now button and submit your CV, Cover Letter and Responses to the Skills and Experience.
