The Level 3 Occupational Therapist (OT) operates as part of the department's caseload rotational system, covering the main adult caseloads, which include general medical, surgical, rehabilitation, and community adult patients.As a senior OT, you will also be required to provide clinical support to more junior OTs in the department and supervise OT students.Desirable Attributes:Team playerHigh-level ability to manage your own caseloadExceptional communication skillsStrong clinical reasoning skillsProficiency in prescribing equipmentExperience in treatment interventions for complex adult patientsAbility to work with multiple funding bodies, including NDIS, Enable NSW, and Get2GoThe successful applicant will receive support and supervision from the OT Department Manager.
Professional development and orientation relevant to the role are encouraged and available both externally and internally through the NSW Health My Health Learning system.
Clinical supervision is also provided.Where You Will Be Working:The Armidale Occupational Therapy Department is located in the Rural Referral Hospital in the leafy town of Armidale, nestled in the high country of the New England region in northern NSW.
Armidale is surrounded by an abundance of national parks and waterfalls and boasts a vibrant community with plenty to offer, including sporting events, arts and crafts, music festivals, and numerous cafés and restaurants to explore.Armidale Hospital features an acute General Medical Ward, Surgical Ward, Close Observation Unit, and Maternity and Paediatric Wards.
The OT department is led by a Level 5 OT and includes Level 1/2 OTs, a Paediatric Level 3 OT, an OT Assistant, and an Administrative Officer.
The OT team culture is supportive, patient-focused, and aligned with the HNELHD CORE values of collaboration, openness, respect, and empowerment.
Allied health and medical staff work closely together to provide comprehensive care.The client mix on the General Medical Ward includes patients with neurological conditions such as stroke and head injuries, aged care, cardiopulmonary conditions, and various other general medical presentations.
OTs provide services both acutely and within a rehabilitation model.
The Surgical Ward includes orthopaedic and acute general surgical care.The community adult caseload primarily involves home assessments but can vary according to patient needs.
