We are seeking a highly motivated and proactive Logistics Manager to join our Logistics team based at Emu Plains, NSW.
What the role entails: Reporting to the Managing Director, the Logistics Manager be responsible for:
Managing all the shipping, receiving, warehouse and inventory control activities at the Emu Plains locationProvide training, leadership, and direction; establish, guide, and develop a team working relationship among the department members. Serve as back-up to all other personnel within the department. Print, prioritize and assign picking slips for customer orders; ensure established procedures are followedCommunicate with other departments to inform them of procedure changes and other distribution activities that affect them Responsible for certifying and maintaining relationships with department vendors and carriers, including negotiating rates and service. Initiate, follow-up and collect on freight claims for Emu Plains location. Maintain clean, neat, and orderly operation, including yard and warehouse areas. Store and maintain physical inventoryInventory control responsibilities include stock transfers, preparing and managing semiannual physical inventory procedures, for all warehouse locations. Assign teams, give instructions, collect data, investigate, or direct the investigation of discrepancies, adjust computer as necessary. Provide cycle counts as required. Initiate procedures and department projects as required. Requisition of all supplies, packaging, and shipping materials as necessary through most economical costs Work directly with finance and the cost accountant to provide weekly cycle counts as well as come up with solutions and plans to reduce losses and gains through cycle counts. Maintain all forklift, to include scheduling PMs, call for service when forklifts are down, and maintain accurate logs on all lifts. Responsible for reviewing and controlling Department budgetWhat we are looking for: Proven experience in a management role within the logistics industry. Exceptional leadership and team management skills. Excellent problem-solving skillsProficiency in managing relationships with customers, carriers, and internal stakeholders. Expertise in OHS practices and the ability to promote a safety-first culture. Problem-solving skills and a track record of driving process improvements.
