North Queensland Customs Services (NQCS) is a Queensland-based international freight forwarder and customs clearing house with a network of agents located throughout Australia and internationally.
Our business provides the technical and advisory services necessary to manage safe, cost-effective international and domestic transport from source to site, together with Customs and Quarantine clearance.
Since its inception almost 50 years ago, NQCS has continually grown from its roots as a small regional customs broker, to servicing a number of national and international customers today.
Over the years we have built up an ever-expanding network of national and international agents as well as a great depth of knowledge.
The Logistics Coordinator position acts as a logistics and administrative support to other employees and customers and works closely with the transport department of North Queensland Customs Services.
Responsibilities & Duties Assist with the coordination of the transport of North Queensland Customs Services.
Liaise with clients to arrange deliveries or storage of goods, advise them of their shipment status, and problem solve when delays or issues arise.
Recommend shipping solutions and select shipment routes based on nature of goods shipped, transit times or security needs.
Determine efficient and cost-effective methods of moving goods from one location to another.
Complete shipping documentation, such as bills of lading, packing lists, dock receipts, and certificates of origin.
Verify proper packaging and labelling of exported goods.
Verify adherence of documentation to customs, insurance or regulatory requirements.
Recommend or arrange appropriate merchandise packing methods, according to climate, terrain, weight, nature of goods, or costs.
Ensure cargo is customs cleared and AQIS requirements are met, monitor detention, along with regular liaison with service providers such as airlines and shipping lines, to ensure customers' requirements are met.
Keep accurate records of the movement of goods.
Prepare invoices or cost quotations for freight transportation.
Maintain current knowledge of relevant legislation, political situations, or other factors that could affect freight shipping.
Any other duties as directed by your Manager.
Work experience & skills Experience in a customer service role Transport and logistics experience desirable Exceptional administration and reporting skills Exposure to CyberFreight software is desirable Basic bookkeeping skills desirable Strong skills in accurate and timely data entry and maintaining data integrity Well-developed computer skills with substantial experience in MS Office (particularly Word and Excel) Understanding of shipping documentation and freight terminology A self-starter and the ability to work autonomously Personal qualities & behavioural traits A genuine team player with a proactive and positive approach to their work Highly organised and motivated Effective communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders You are responsible, mature and ethically-minded, and have a solid work record Strong attention to detail Excellent written and verbal communication skills Exceptional time management skills, ability to problem solve and work to tight deadlines #J-18808-Ljbffr
