The purpose of the Family Responsibilities Commission (FRC) is to support the restoration of socially responsible standards of behaviour and to assist community members to resume and maintain primary responsibility for the wellbeing of their community and the individuals and families within their community.
The core objectives of the Commission (as an independent statutory authority assisting in the rebuilding of communities) are focused on safeguarding and restoring:
child safetyschool attendancelawful behaviorresponsible tenancyThe Local Registry Coordinator will provide strategic and operational support to the FRC's operations by managing the local registry in one or more welfare reform communities of Aurukun, Coen, Doomadgee, Hope Vale and Mossman Gorge.
• Fulfil the responsibilities of this role in accordance with the Family Responsibilities Commission values and the Queensland Public Service Code of Conduct.
• Understand, respect, contribute to and accurately follow FRC policies, procedures and quality systems, while remaining able to proactively identify and analyse problems and offer practical cost effective solutions.
• Provide ethical decision making in the achievement of organisational goals.
• Effectively communicate with stakeholders and demonstrate understanding, empathy and patience with a positive service focus.
• Under section 38 of the Family Responsibilities Act, the function of a Local Coordinator is to support the efficient and effective operation of the Commission in the welfare reform community area for which the Local Coordinator is appointed, including for example:
Taking appropriate steps to facilitate the holding of conferences.Providing information about community support services and the operation of the Commission to persons living in the area.Keeping all records and information the Registrar considers appropriate.• Develop and establish strong relationships with the Local Commissioners in the welfare reform community and assist them in preparing for conferences.
• Attend Commission conferences in the welfare reform community, record the agreement, produce orders and agreements made at the conferences, develop case plans and monitor outcomes.
• Carry out and facilitate Client Engagement and other FRC initiatives in the welfare reform community.
• Develop, promote and implement initiatives aimed at cost effectiveness and improved client services.
• Provide strong leadership in developing commitment, corporate values and creating an environment of strong customer service, teamwork, open communication, leadership and innovation.
Work autonomously in remote areas showing initiative and solid decision-making skills to achieve outcomes and deliver objectives for the Commission, Local Commissioners and FRC clients.
• Assist the Registrar with preparation of any reports of the Commission as required utilising excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Other duties commensurate with the position as required by the Commissioner or Registrar.

Highly motivated with experience in a dynamic customer and team-based environment.A proven track record of producing positive outcomes.Highly developed problem-solving and decision making skills.Excellent communication (verbal and written) skills including active listening and empathy.Highly developed administration skills including proficiency in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and other customer relationship databases.Cultural capability - direct experience working with First Nations people in First Nations communities.Demonstrated knowledge of concepts such as budgeting and approval processes.Experience and qualifications in social work, administrative decision-making, law, or dispute resolution and mediation would be highly regarded.
