Council is excited to present a permanent full-time opportunity for an experienced Financial Accountant . This opportunity has become available due to an internal movement and is part of a collaborative team that values accountability, teamwork, community, potential, and positivity. We are now looking to appoint a qualified, professional Accountant to join Council's accounting team.
This position will act as a business partner to the wider organisation, providing accounting support on a broad range of financial activities. Candidates will have experience with financial statements and preparation of supporting documentation, and have working knowledge of financial audit functions, Australian Accounting Standards, and relevant legislation.
The successful candidate will hold a tertiary qualification and have an understanding of accounting principles, along with demonstrable communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills. Ideally, we are looking for candidates who have a thorough understanding of financial practices, exceptional customer service, analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to effectively work as a member of a team.

Skills, Experience and Qualifications To be successful in this role, you will have:
An undergraduate degree or higher with a major in accounting/finance/commerce or another closely related discipline with previous experience in financial accounting functions. Previous experience in operating Council's current financial operating systems (Finance One and Pathways) or demonstrated past experience in quickly learning and effectively operating corporate financial systems. Eligibility for membership of CPA Australia, Institute of Chartered Accountants, or other professional accounting body. Possess and maintain a current motor vehicle driver's licence.
