St Mary MacKillop College is Canberra's largest secondary school, operating across two campuses. Years 7 to 9 are based on the Padua Campus (Wanniassa) and Years 10 to 12 are based on the St Peter's Campus (Isabella Plains). About the Role
The Liturgy and Mission Coordinator has a key role in fostering the religious and spiritual life of the College community. This leadership position involves guiding staff, students, and families in nurturing and promoting the school's Catholic ethos, ensuring the opportunity is provided to assist staff and students to explore and deepen their faith within a Catholic context.
The Liturgy and Mission Coordinator will lead the College community through strengthening the partnership between the College and local parishes and for engaging students in the life, mission and work of the Catholic faith community. They will liaise closely with the College Chaplain and Religious Education Coordinators in leading and facilitating a range of communal prayer and liturgical experiences, which also contribute to the faith life of the College. The Liturgy and Mission Coordinator will lead the development and implementation of key religious events such as Masses, liturgies and the annual Staff Spirituality day. They assist with the development of Retreat programs and Reflection Days. They facilitate the participation of staff and students in colloquiums and oversee the prayer life of the College, preparing relevant and meaningful prayer for college assemblies, staff meetings, information evenings and other celebrations. Critical within this role is the strategic development of a College program of community service for student and staff engagement.
The successful applicant will be a highly effective and passionate teacher, with advanced organisational skills, the ability to lead collaboratively and the desire to integrate student faith formation opportunities into the broader learning context.

Key Responsibilities
Lead the spiritual life and spiritual development of the school community.
Collaboratively develop, facilitate and promote Christ-centered faith formation, prayer and liturgical experiences and opportunities for staff, students, and parents ensuring respect, dignity and engagement.
Articulate the College Vision through opportunities appropriate to this role such as campus and whole College Masses, assemblies, staff meetings, information evenings, the Newsletter, liturgies and other celebrations.
Build the capacity of staff to animate the Religious Life of the School.
In the spirit of Mary MacKillop, collaboratively develop, facilitate and promote the school's Catholic social justice and Catholic charitable works initiatives, including establishing relationships with service organisations beyond the school.
Encourage the continuing personal, spiritual, and professional development of staff.
Build the capacity of teachers and support colleagues to embed Catholic perspectives across all subject areas.
Continue to develop appropriate ways for the recognition and honouring of faith diversity within our community.
Embed collaborative practices in the school, implementing professional dialogue within the school that is informed by feedback, analysis of current research and practice to improve the Religious Life of the School.
Ensure the integration of the spiritual development of students in pastoral care policies.
Work closely with priests and the parish community to foster strong relationships with all parish agencies.
Qualifications
Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP) and/or Working with Children's Check (WWCC) registration.
Teaching Quality Institute (TQI) registration and/or NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) accreditation.
Must have completed, be due to complete or a willingness to complete Accreditation D and E, according to the Accreditation to work, teach and lead in a Catholic School Policy.
To teach Religious Education in a Catholic school (to be a Religious Education Teacher), a teacher must:
Be Catholic;
Provide a reference from a current Parish Priest; and
Have completed or be due to complete Accreditation D – Teach Religious Education in a Catholic school in accordance with the Accreditation to Work, Teach and Lead in Catholic Education, Canberra and Goulburn Policy.
Selection Criteria
Clearly articulate the aims of Catholic education and the evangelising mission of Catholic schools.
Lead and build capacity of staff to animate the Religious Life of the School.
Lead and build capacity of staff to provide Christ-centered faith formation, prayer, and liturgical experiences.
Collaboratively develop, facilitate and promote student and staff retreat programs, including the Staff Spirituality Day.
Evaluate, analyse, and use data to inform future strategic planning in the Religious Life of the School.
Effectively communicate with a variety of stakeholders to build strong relationships.
Collaboratively develop, facilitate and promote the school's Catholic social justice, charitable works, and outreach initiatives.
Other Eligibility Criteria
You must be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident to be eligible to apply for this position.
