Ongoing VPS 3.2 role based at the Shepparton Magistrates' CourtNewly created position to support the Assessment and Referral Court expansion to Shepparton, a key recommendation from the Royal Commission into Victoria's Mental Health SystemA rare opportunity to coordinate a specialist court list and work closely with the multidisciplinary ARC teamAn opportunity to gain valuable experience in listings by supporting the Court CoordinatorThe Magistrates' Court of Victoria (MCV) is a jurisdiction within the Court Services Victoria statutory authority and has a long history of providing justice for the people of Victoria in metropolitan and regional courts across the state.
The Court determines in excess of 300,000 cases per annum at 51 venues, equating to approximately 90 percent of all cases that come before Victorian courts each year.
The Court aims to be an innovative, accessible, and responsive court that provides quality services to the Victorian community.
The Assessment and Referral Court (ARC) will soon be expanding to Shepparton.
ARC is a solution-focused court underpinned by principles of therapeutic jurisprudence and recovery oriented mental health practice.
ARC focuses on understanding and responding to underlying factors contributing to offending behaviour for people experiencing mental ill-health and/or cognitive disability.
About the Role Supporting the Court Coordinator, the Listings Registrar and ARC Coordinator performs a dual function of supporting the listing and registry functions across all jurisdictions and more specifically the coordination of the ARC list, including in-court duties.
The Listings Registrar and ARC Coordinator operates in a complex, demanding and sensitive environment.
The role requires the ability to exercise sound judgement and discretion while liaising effectively with the Judiciary, court users and more specifically members of the ARC multidisciplinary team, and ARC participants.
The role requires regular interaction with accused persons who are experiencing a serious mental illness and/or cognitive disability.
About You The successful candidate has an interest in specialist courts and programs, working as part of a multidisciplinary team and a desire to expand their listings experience.
They will have demonstrated knowledge of listing protocols and other relevant court policies and procedures.
The successful candidate will have the exciting opportunity to be an integral part of the establishment of a new specialist court in Shepparton.
