Job Description
Overview
As a key member of our Risk & Compliance department, the 1st Line Risk Business Partner works closely with business leaders to manage and mitigate risks, ensuring the business operates within the Board's risk appetite.
This role is pivotal in helping to design and implement strategies to strengthen risk management processes, enhance decision-making, and promote a positive risk culture across the organisation.

Melbourne and Sydney location Hybrid working conditions Supportive team Key Responsibilities:
Risk Management: Collaborate with leaders to ensure that risks are within appetite, taking corrective action when necessary.
Proactively identify emerging risks and work to mitigate them effectively.
Compliance & Controls: Ensure the business adheres to risk management frameworks, policies, and regulatory requirements.
Translate requirements into actionable plans and oversee the implementation of controls.
Training & Awareness: Develop and deliver training to improve risk awareness and embed a 'Risk as a Mindset' approach across teams.
Risk Protocols & Mitigation: Support the development of First Line Risk management protocols, monitor implementation, and track outstanding risk mitigation actions.
Stakeholder Liaison: Work closely with department heads to evaluate the adequacy of risk management actions, including addressing findings from internal audits.
Regularly update risk registers to reflect evolving risks.
Continuous Improvement: Provide insights and recommendations for enhancing the organization's risk management processes and control frameworks.
Participate in Early Change Assessments (ECA) and guide risk considerations for business projects.
Governance & Reporting: Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
Monitor and report on the status of risk management efforts and compliance to senior leadership and relevant committees.
Experience & Qualifications:
Professional Experience: At least 3 years of experience in financial services, risk, compliance, or related fields.
A strong understanding of risk principles and a proven ability to manage competing priorities.
Knowledge & Expertise: Extensive knowledge of superannuation legislation and regulations, as well as internal control frameworks.
Ability to assess complex processes and make recommendations for improvements.
Stakeholder Management: Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
Academic Qualifications: Tertiary qualified in a relevant discipline (business, finance, risk management).
Risk Mindset: A proactive, solutions-focused approach to risk management with the ability to embed a risk-aware culture across the business.
