Role Overview:
The First Line Risk role is responsible for identifying, reporting, and mitigating risks across the organization to ensure alignment with the Board's risk appetite. Reporting to the Senior Manager, First Line Risk, this position focuses on overseeing risk management activities with a specific emphasis on CPS230 requirements. You will contribute to building a strong risk culture and supporting the development of risk frameworks that enhance decision-making processes across the business.

Conduct internal investigations to identify risks and assess their impact on operations and business functions. Develop and implement risk management strategies, processes, and policies under the guidance of the Senior Manager. Analyse the effectiveness of risk management approaches to support informed decision-making. Oversee the Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) system, ensuring timely completion of risk-related tasks and actions. Drive the development of a strong risk culture throughout the organization. Collaborate with key stakeholders to propose improvements in risk management frameworks and internal controls. Monitor the implementation of risk mitigation plans and track the completion of risk registers. Provide analysis and insights for Risk Committees, Risk Forums, and senior leadership meetings. Conduct root cause analysis, identifying opportunities for continuous improvement and risk mitigation. Key Accountabilities:
Collaborate with the Senior Manager to define and drive the First Line Risk governance framework. Work closely with other teams to foster a "Risk as a mindset" approach across the business. Proactively identify emerging risks and report findings to relevant stakeholders. Track risk mitigation actions and ensure they are implemented as planned. Monitor and report on the status of action plans and risk registers on a quarterly basis. Produce presentations and risk insights for key committees and leadership forums. Build strong relationships with stakeholders, driving collaboration to enhance decision-making and risk management practices. Maintain CPS230 process maps and ensure they are up to date. People Leadership:
Support the team in meeting risk management objectives, ensuring alignment with business goals. Communicate effectively to ensure staff are working towards shared objectives and are adaptable to business needs. Role model the company's values and promote a positive organizational culture. Demonstrate proactive drive and motivation by staying updated on industry developments. Governance & Risk:
Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and internal risk requirements. Support and contribute to assurance programs that promote effective risk management and compliance. Report on compliance status and escalate issues to Line Two, as required. Experience & Skills:
2+ years in financial services and operational risk, compliance, or related disciplines (ideal). Strong knowledge of risk principles, superannuation regulations, and relevant legislation. Proven ability to prioritize tasks and manage competing demands. Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Ability to build collaborative, open relationships with stakeholders at all levels. A keen risk mindset with the ability to recommend process improvements and enhance internal controls.
