The Intellectual Disability Foundation Of St George Limited

Details of the offer

Production Line Leader Organisation: Intellectual Disability Foundation (IDF)
Location: Kogarah, Sydney
Employment Type: Full-Time
Salary: Competitive, Based on Experience
The Intellectual Disability Foundation (IDF) of St George is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to providing meaningful employment opportunities for individuals with intellectual disabilities. We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Production Line Leader to oversee our co-packing lines and support a team of 15-20 participants in a nurturing and inclusive work environment.
About the Role: As a Production Line Leader, you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of various production lines, ensuring our participants feel valued, encouraged, and engaged in their roles. You will set clear daily targets, coordinate activities, and maintain quality control, while also focusing on the personal growth and development of each team member. The role involves moving between different production lines based on operational needs, but the priorities remain the same: patience, genuine praise, and creating a supportive environment where everyone can succeed.
The successful candidate will have the ability to motivate, encourage, and celebrate the achievements of individuals with different abilities, fostering a culture of respect and collaboration. You will actively guide participants to contribute according to their strengths, help them build confidence, and recognise their contributions to the team.
Key Responsibilities: • Target Setting & Progress Tracking: Facilitate daily meetings to set production goals, outline tasks, and gather input from participants. Ensure all team members understand the targets and track progress throughout the day.
• Encouragement & Praise: Create a positive and uplifting environment by providing genuine praise for each participant's efforts, no matter how big or small. Recognise achievements and help build confidence in their abilities.
• Motivating & Supporting Participants: Actively engage with participants, ensuring everyone is involved and working to their strengths. Provide hands-on assistance to participants with mobility issues or those needing extra guidance to complete tasks.
• Quality Control & Compliance: Maintain high standards of quality in a HACCP-compliant environment. Ensure the correct quantity of products is packed, labels and dates are accurate, and products are free from contamination. Reinforce cleanliness and safety standards, making sure participants adhere to hygiene protocols, such as wearing coats, hair nets, and gloves.
• Safety & Behavioural Management: Monitor safety on the line and escalate any concerns to the Service Manager or support staff as needed. Promote a culture of safety and mutual respect.
• Training & Skill Development: Empower participants to take on new roles and responsibilities, such as quality control. Provide training and support to help them build new skills and achieve their personal goals.
What We're Looking For: • Proven experience in a warehouse, production line, or co-packing environment.
• Patience, empathy, and a passion for supporting individuals with intellectual disabilities.
• Strong leadership skills with a focus on encouraging and uplifting a diverse team.
• Ability to take ownership of production targets and inspire participants to meet these goals.
• Understanding of quality control standards and HACCP requirements.
• Experience working in a clean environment and enforcing hygiene standards.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to adapt tasks to meet the needs of each participant.
• Familiarity with the use of safety and production equipment, such as tape machines, pallet jacks, and packing stations.
Why Join Us? • Be part of a mission-driven organisation focused on making a tangible impact in the community.
• Opportunities for training and development in the disability and quality assurance sectors.
• Collaborative team environment where your leadership and compassion will be valued.
• Competitive remuneration and a chance to grow within a purpose-led organisation.
If you are a patient leader who takes pride in motivating others and is passionate about making a difference, we would love to hear from you. Apply now by sending your CV and cover letter
