Lifestyle Officer - Residential Aged Care Illawarra Diggers is an independent, not-for-profit organization that has been providing high quality residential aged care to the ex-services and general community of Wollongong for more than 78 years.
Located in a quiet, residential area of Corrimal, Illawarra Diggers provides a friendly, caring and homely environment that seeks to enhance the quality of life of everyone who lives here.
We are currently seeking a Lifestyle Officer to join our Lifestyle Team in a permanent/part-time role.
About the role: You will report directly to the Lifestyle Manager.
The position is for 28 - 35 hours per week, 4 to 5 days per week, 8.30am – 4.30pm.
There is flexibility to work shorter hours across 5 days by negotiation.
Weekends/Public Holidays as required in accordance with special events and functions held throughout the year.
Saturdays required at times.
Our Lifestyle Team is responsible for: Implementing and facilitating group and individual programs which support the social, psychological, emotional, physical, cultural, and spiritual needs of our residents.
Helping residents find meaning through activities designed to enhance their sense of connection, fun, and relaxation.
You will need: Certificate III or IV in Leisure and Lifestyle or equivalent is essential.
Previous experience facilitating Lifestyle and Recreation programs.
Experience working with Dementia and Challenging Behaviours.
A conscientious and empathetic approach to working with older persons.
Proficiency with using a computer including Microsoft Office and database programs.
Professional approach to your role.
Additional Requirements: Current first aid certificate or willingness to obtain.
All applicants must be willing to undergo a federal police check and undertake a pre-employment medical and functional assessment.
Excellent time-management skills and well organized.
An upbeat and engaging personality.
Imagination and creative skills in art, music, dance, and craft is desirable.
Ability to work as part of a team as well as autonomously.
