Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer B1.3 Leonardo International Helicopter Division performs research, design, development, production, customer support and marketing of Leonard's extensive range of products; modern helicopters and tiltrotors for civil, parapublic and defence applications. The Division manages the entire helicopter development and production cycle. Production and assembly plants are concentrated in Italy, UK, Poland and the US. The AW139, AW169 and AW189 models are part of a family of new generation helicopters, all featuring the same design philosophy and the same certification and safety standards.
Leonardo Australia is the Australian subsidiary of Leonardo International, offering full support services including engineering and maintenance including logistics management and other related support functions. Helicopter activities include helicopter gearbox overhauls in our state-of-the art MRO facility. We also perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, aircraft modifications and deployed support to customer maintenance activities. Our typical customers work in emergency services, offshore operations, in both government and private sectors including defence. Leonardo Australia has two key divisions, Helicopters and Electronics.
About the role: Leonardo Australia is seeking a Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (LAME) B1.3 / B2 to join our team at our Essendon Fields site. The LAME is required to conduct maintenance on Aircraft, aircraft components and/or general support equipment as directed by the Senior Base Engineer. During the period of conducting these activities the LAME will ensure good housekeeping practices to ensure all work is conducted in line with the companies CAR30 Procedures Manual and/or Part145 MOE.
Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineers, while working under Leonardo Australia Certificate of Approval, will be directly responsible to the Engineering Manager reporting to the Senior Base Engineer.
Key responsibilities include: Exercise abilities and Licence coverage as directed by the Engineering Manager in accordance with the CAR30 Procedures Manual and/or Part145 MOE. Ensure that their license regency (at least 6 months in any 24-month period) remains current. Act as a Job Coordinator during maintenance activities to meet the requirements of the CAR30 and/or Part145 MOE and the issue of Maintenance Releases. Be fully conversant with the airworthiness requirements pertaining to maintenance of aircraft and in particular CAR Schedule 6. Be able to integrate well with other staff and work as part of a team. Be aware of the requirement to practice individual quality control at all times in accordance with the CAR30 and/or Part145 MOE. Bring to the attention of the Engineering Manager any anomalies in Maintenance Schedules, Defects or Maintenance Procedures so that appropriate corrective action can be taken. Assist in the upkeep of the condition of the Hangar and in keeping all Ground Support Equipment clean, functional and in calibrated status. Impart on the job training to AMEs & Apprentices. Travel domestically and internationally, upon request, to support Leonardo Helicopters Product line. Travel domestically and internationally for OEM Training requirements. Formal Education / Certification & Clearance Requirements: Hold a valid CASA Part 66 license with AW109, AW139 & AW169 desirable. Certificate 4 in Aeroskills (Mechanical) and/or (Avionics) or higher. Hold/be able to hold, a valid ASIC card. Current Human factors training. Hold a current Police Background check, or ability to attain. Professional / Technical Experience Requirements: Sound engineering background with proven ability to conduct scheduled maintenance in an efficient manner. Proven ability to troubleshoot technical systems in an efficient manner. Detailed knowledge of CASA regulations as applicable to aircraft maintenance. Comprehensive understanding of Leonardo Australia health and safety policies and procedures. Demonstrated ability to supervise and organise others. Demonstrated ability to be able to communicate with internal and external parties.
