Davis Creek Primary School is a new co-educational Prep to Year 6 that opened in 2020. Over this time, we have grown rapidly due to our positive reputation within our local community of Tarneit. We are seeking an enthusiastic, positive, and passionate Library Assistant to work as part of the school team and school community to contribute to our collaborative culture at our school.

Role The attendance required for this position is term time only. Monday to Friday, 8am-4pm. The role will usually impact beyond the work area or professional field. It seeks to gain cooperation of other staff members or members of the school community to achieve specific objectives, such as in school administration, operations or educational programs.
Direction on targets and goals is provided but the position will have some degree of latitude in determining how they are achieved. This latitude will generally be limited by standard procedures and school policy. Deviation from standard procedures and school policy will require guidance and direction from senior management.
Responsibilities The responsibilities of this position will be:
Sort, arrange, file and catalogue incoming resources according to type and appropriate categories utilising Oliver - Library Management System. Prepare descriptive lists of resources and undertake accessioning procedures, box, label, shelve resources and maintain records of loans. Perform basic duties with regard to the general library space including furniture, retrieving, shelving, maintaining books, periodicals and stocktakes. Maintain up to date knowledge of children's resources to assist classes with reading selection, source interesting and age-appropriate fiction collections. Develop and implement displays and exhibitions within the library space and school to promote engagement. Assist in the implementation of extra-curricular activities such as book week and events such as Harmony Day and Reconciliation Week. Ensure storage areas are in a clean, safe and orderly condition. Label, cover, assemble, sort books/resources in accordance with school procedures. Management of library space including all tasks associated with ongoing operations of a library. Manage and maintain the library school budget in conjunction with the literacy coordinator. Provide training and support to students and staff as required. Take small groups of students for reading sessions. Supervise small groups of students undertaking various projects/programs. Coordinate parent support. Support School Council Sub-Committee and initiatives. Assist in the implementation of building strong connections with the local community.
