About the officeThis role sits within the Pro Vice Chancellor, Student Experience portfolio which includes Student Success, Indigenous Education, Chaplaincy, Libraries, Student Life and Wellness.
The University Library consists of five libraries networked across Australia. While the individual libraries are managed locally, they report nationally to the University Librarian.
About the roleThe Liaison Librarian provides a comprehensive range of library education, research services, programs and resources, which involves directly engaging with students and academic staff.
The Liaison Librarian is a key liaison point between the Library, University and internal and external client groups.
The Liaison Librarian works as part of Faculty, library and department teams to initiate, plan and deliver projects to enhance library education and research services while providing specialist advice that contributes to the advancement of the Library's strategic objectives.
Key ResponsibilitiesPlan, implement, deliver and evaluate a range of library education and research services for staff and students in collaboration with key stakeholders across the University, that closely align with faculty and Library objectives.Provide specialist and disciplinary expertise and advice to staff and students on resource discovery and evaluation, complex search strategies, scholarly communication, research data management and research impact, whilst building and sustaining researcher engagement across faculties to enable effective research practice.Contribute to the review and maintenance of Library collections, information and data management policies, practices, activities and systems including monitoring and reporting mechanisms.Contribute to negotiations with vendors, suppliers, consortia and stakeholders in relation to access and use of resources, and monitoring and reporting on relevant collection trends, issues and developments.Provide specialist expertise and advice to Library colleagues and other university staff, and contribute to planning, working groups and committees to maximise engagement opportunities, promote initiatives and ensure delivery of project outcomes.Mentor and contribute to the professional development of other Library staff and/or lead, support and motivate a small team as required.Qualifications, skills & experiencePossession of a degree qualification with relevant work experience and/or a combination of extensive experience, education or training.Demonstrated experience in library services work environment, including the design, delivery and evaluation of education and research programs.Experience in collaborating across teams for projects, committees and working groups.Sound understanding of the requirements for information management throughout the research lifecycle, including scholarly communication in a university or research environment.Established knowledge of relevant subject disciplines, scholarly communication, research data management and research impact, together with demonstrated experience in collection development and budget monitoring.Strong organisational skills with the ability to set priorities and achieve team objectives and offer mentorship to colleagues.Demonstrated knowledge and advanced skills in resource discovery and evaluation, complex search strategies and capacity to engage with new technologies and areas of interest.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to liaise, advise and negotiate at high levels and prepare and deliver professional presentations and documentation for various audiences.Supportive of the Objects of Notre Dame as a Catholic University.BenefitsGenerous training and development opportunities.Friendly and collaborative working environment.Discounted study at the University.How to applyPlease apply online with a resume and cover letter outlining your suitability for the role.
