As the Liability and Technical Specialist, you will be responsible for conducting initial contacts and risk assessments, obtaining subjective and objective evidence and determining liability for workers compensation claims.
Additionally, you will act as a subject matter expert, providing coaching and advice to our claims teams around liability and other entitlement determinations.
Based in our Darwin office and within a dynamic and collaborative team, this is a unique opportunity to bring your existing technical claims expertise to an existing new specialist role within our NT Workers Compensation function.
How you'll make an impact: Coordinate the claim lodgement process, ensuring key information is obtained from stakeholders to support the timely determination of a claim; Determine liability for a claim within the legislative timeframes and communicate decision to the injured worker and employer; Undertake specialist claims investigation, determine normal weekly earnings, lump sum and whole person impairment entitlements; Identify any potential barriers and provide effective strategies for eligibility outcomes; Provide education to Workers, Employer and Treating Medical Practitioner in respect to rights and responsibilities; Undertake the internal dispute resolution process as requested; Provide instructions to panel solicitors with respect to litigated matters; Prepare required paperwork for NT WorkSafe in relation to mediation requests; Attend mediation and work health court conferences as required. About you: Significant experience in workers compensation claims management, impairment assessment guidelines and relevant case law; Strong working knowledge of the NT Workers Compensation legislation and guidelines; Highly developed communication skills, with the ability to engage and negotiate at all levels of organisation and with a varied set of stakeholders; A proactive and holistic mindset; Exceptional time management and organisational skills, with excellent attention to detail; Empathetic and enthusiastic, with a strong sense of team and collaboration; A resilient attitude.
