Networks & Systems Administration (Information & Communication Technology) Are you a passionate and experienced Linux Systems Engineer seeking to make a real difference in the healthcare sector? Macquarie Health Corporation, a leading healthcare provider in New South Wales & Victoria, is seeking a highly motivated Senior Linux Systems Engineer to join our growing IT team at our Sydney Head Office. As Senior Linux Systems Engineer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation, security, and performance of our critical Windows & Linux-based IT infrastructure. Your expertise will be instrumental in supporting the delivery of high-quality patient care.
Responsibilities:Design, implement, and maintain Linux-based systems, including servers, storage, and networking infrastructure.Provide advanced technical support and troubleshooting for Linux systems and applications.Optimize system performance and resource utilization to ensure efficient operations.Understanding of typical medical systems applications (Patient Admin and Medical Records etc.) desirable, if not ability to assimilate technical systems skills independently.Provide expert administration, configuration, and support for a wide range of IT systems, including Windows and Linux servers, Active Directory, virtualisation platforms (e.g., VMware ESXi & Proxmox), storage solutions, firewalls and network infrastructure.Proactively identify and troubleshoot applications & system issues, minimising downtime and ensuring optimal system performance and availability.Implement and maintain robust security practices to safeguard our IT infrastructure from cyber threats.Participate in system upgrades, migrations, new site provisioning and innovative technology initiatives.Collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders, including clinicians, to understand their IT needs and provide tailored solutions.Document technical processes and procedures for future reference and knowledge transfer.Contribute to the continuous improvement of our IT service delivery through automation and scripting.Stay up-to-date with the latest IT trends and technologies.Your Skills and Experience:Minimum 5 years' experience as a Senior Linux Systems Engineer in a healthcare (desirable) or enterprise environment.Must be a strong self-starter with demonstrable technical, analytical and problem-solving skills.Strong proficiency in all Linux distributions (e.g., Red Hat, Debian/Ubuntu, Alma/Rocky).Demonstrated expertise in Windows Server administration, Active Directory, and Group Policy.Strong understanding of Linux systems administration, including user management, scripting, patching and network configuration.Expert at Infrastructure configuration, with Firewalls, Storage (SAN & NAS), Layer 3 Managed Switching, WiFi & VOIP devices.Experience with virtualisation platforms such as Veeam, VMware vSphere & Proxmox.Proficient in network administration principles and protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs).Excellent knowledge of security best practices and experience with security tools.Proven ability to independently troubleshoot complex technical issues.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders.A passion for the healthcare sector and a strong commitment to delivering high-quality IT services.Tertiary qualification in Information Technology or a relevant field (highly regarded).We Offer:A competitive remuneration package with salary commensurate with experience.Opportunity to work in a dynamic and supportive healthcare environment.Be part of a team that is passionate about delivering innovative IT solutions to improve patient care.The opportunity to contribute to the delivery of high-quality patient care.Onsite parking available.Applications:To apply, please submit your resume and a cover letter outlining your suitability for the role.
