About us:
Hunter Brain Injury Service (HBIS) is 1 of 15 state-wide specialist rehabilitation services for compensable and non-compensable adult clients who have experienced a traumatic brain injury. The service is based in Bar Beach Newcastle, providing outpatient, outreach, and community residential care to clients in the Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Lower & Upper Hunter, Port Stephens, Greater Taree, and Central Coast areas. The 5-bed community residential transition living unit (TLU) supports clients from other regional/rural areas when they have a family member or significant other in the catchment area. The facility includes parking onsite, multiple counselling and interview spaces, a large outdoor area including gardens, a courtyard, and a yarning circle. The HBIS team is specially trained to clinically support and case manage people who have experienced a traumatic brain injury, including various health professionals and support staff.
About the role: This role will see you provide occupational therapy interventions and specialised case management to clients who have experienced a traumatic brain injury. You will be working within a specialised transdisciplinary Allied Health lead team. You will be provided with education opportunities to develop case management skills to support individuals with complex clinical, functional, cognitive, behaviour/mood, and psychosocial needs. Networking opportunities to connect with Specialist Brain Injury Clinicians at various state-wide events. A typical day could include therapeutic assessment, testing and interventions, development of therapy programs, engaging with other agencies/providers, conducting group education/support, and community outings. You will be supported by the Service Manager, Clinical Coordinator, and other Occupational Therapists across NSW. Orientation will occur during the first couple of weeks with the Service Manager and Clinical Coordinator. About you: You are passionate about supporting clients to achieve their goals after sustaining a brain injury. You enjoy working with clients following traumatic brain injury and bring experience from previous clinical roles. You take a holistic, innovative, and empowering approach to care. You value integrity, teamwork, empathy, inclusion, and fairness. You are a passionate interdisciplinary team member who actively contributes to a positive team culture. You are enthusiastic about quality improvement and your professional development. Requirements: Tertiary qualifications in Occupational Therapy and registration with AHPRA. Current eligibility to drive in NSW and the ability and willingness to travel for work purposes. Benefits: Four weeks annual leave (pro-rata for part-time employees). Up to 12 allocated days off each year (for full-time employees). Superannuation contributions 11.5%. Salary packaging - Up to $9k for living expenses + $2.6k meal & entertainment + Novated leasing.
