The Office of Public Prosecutions (OPP) is an independent statutory authority responsible for preparing and conducting criminal prosecutions in Victoria on behalf of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP). Matters prosecuted by the DPP and the OPP involve serious crimes or matters that are of significance to the fair and effective operation of the Victorian criminal justice system.The OPP consists of the Solicitor for Public Prosecutions and a staff of approximately 475 providing legal and corporate support to the DPP, the Chief Crown Prosecutor and Crown Prosecutors in the exercise of their independent roles in the criminal justice system.
Legal Support Officer, Geelong Full Time, Ongoing The Office of Public Prosecutions (OPP) has an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual with experience in a legal environment to join our legal practice at our Geelong office. The role of Legal Support Officer offers many opportunities for learning and development in a supportive and collaborative environment.
Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, the successful incumbent will be expected to work closely and collaboratively with legal practice team at our Geelong office, providing legal and administrative support to ensure that operational requirements are met.
About the Role: Provide administrative support and, under direction, provide legal support to solicitors including the creation of legal documents and maintaining case databases.Liaising with internal and external stakeholders, such as legal personnel and government agencies.Identify and support opportunities for continuous improvement within the division, including participation in team meetings, projects, and new initiatives to improve processes.Prepare correspondence and documentation for Court.As our ideal candidate you will have: A demonstrated ability to provide administrative support to professional staff in a complex, confidential and sensitive environment.Sound communication skills and the ability to maintain effective working relationships with relevant stakeholders.Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.The role is located at the OPP Geelong office, 60/62 Brougham Street Geelong.
