Key Responsibilities: Check and authenticate orders made in respect of funds held in Court under the supervision of a legal officer.
Attend to the proper recording of each order, and any supporting documentation, in the Senior Master's Trust Management System.Provide administrative support to the Solicitor to the Senior Master and the Funds in Court legal team, including the preparation of memoranda, Court orders, and correspondence.Verify compliance with, and authorise payments into and out of Court, in accordance with relevant orders and/or legislation.About Us The Supreme Court of Victoria (the 'Court') is the highest court in Victoria and comprises the Court of Appeal and the Trial Division.

Funds in Court (FIC) is a self-funded division of the Court, whereby all funds paid into Court are held, invested, and administered by the Senior Master, who is an Associate Judge.
The Senior Master holds funds, investments, and assets, principally for persons under disability.

About the Role The Legal Support Officer is a Deputy Prothonotary and is primarily responsible for the checking and authentication of orders made by the Associate Judge who is the Senior Master, and the Judicial Registrar assigned to Funds in Court, in relation to funds held in Court for persons under disability.
The Legal Support Officer also provides administrative support to the Solicitor to the Senior Master and the Funds in Court legal team.
The Legal Support Officer reports to the Legal Services Manager.
Key Accountabilities: Providing specialist advice and recommendations to the Senior Master and Judicial Registrar regarding a wide variety of legal matters affecting clients and their families and carers, including trusts, human rights, disability, property, domestic building law, deceased estates, consumer law, and complaint management.Verifying compliance with orders of the Court, the Rules of Court, and relevant legislation, and authorising payments into and out of Court.Making recommendations in difficult cases involving conflicting interests and parties within a high volume and challenging work environment, and providing advice as required.Using expertise to prepare Court orders, deeds, applications, correspondence, and written advice, including the interpretation of relevant legislation and policies.Maintaining strong working relationships with stakeholders and relevant agencies.Consulting, liaising, and negotiating with applicants, their representatives, and other stakeholders on often sensitive legal matters.Co-ordinating the conduct of complex applications before statutory Boards, Tribunals, and Courts including but not limited to the Guardianship List at VCAT.About You: Legal administration experience.An interest in the jurisdiction of the Supreme Court of Victoria including an ability to understand the Supreme Court (General Civil Procedure) Rules.Experience in the Disability Sector will be highly regarded.A minimum of two years post-admission experience will be highly regarded.How to Apply: Click the 'Apply Now' button, ensuring you include the following in your application:
