Within this role as Legal Support, you'll support the legal function of the TIO by preparing files for sending to consumers who request access to their personal information, assisting with workflow processes, working with the team on process improvements, and performing ad hoc admin and research tasks as required.
Job DescriptionJob Description You'll report to the Senior Lawyer, who will provide a supportive team but trust in you to work autonomously.
You will have a key role in redacting files and updating key registers.
You'll become a key part of this team providing administrative support, preparing critical correspondence and helping improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the team.
Your primary responsibilities will include:
Preparing files for information requests under the Privacy Act 1988Preparing simple legal documents for review by the Senior LawyerUsing your legal research skills to locate cases or relevant commentaryWorking closely with the Senior Lawyer and others on process improvementsPerforming ad hoc administrative tasks for members of the Legal TeamDesired Skills and ExperienceDesired Skills and Experience You will possess a diligent attitude and be someone who can efficiently handle routine tasks with consistent attention to detail.
You will be open to feedback with an inclination towards continuous improvement.
To be successful in this role you will need to:
Have great attention to detail and organisational skillsWork autonomously towards deadlines while managing multiple tasksHave a sound understanding of Microsoft Suite and Adobe ProAbility to understand complex legal concepts and languageAbout the Team The Legal Team provides legal advice to the Ombudsman, Executive Leadership team, and wider functions of the TIO to help achieve their strategic goals and manage risk.
