Full Time, Fixed Term 18-month contract Competitive salary plus 17% superannuation Work within a dynamic, supportive and professional environment Job Reference: 737610   Your New Role Curtin University is seeking a highly skilled and experienced  Legal/Senior Legal Counsel  to join our high performing Legal Services team.
This 18-month fixed-term position offers a unique opportunity to provide comprehensive legal advice and services on a wide range of property and commercial matters.
Our Legal Services team is instrumental in identifying and managing legal risks, enabling the University to achieve its strategic goals.
This position will oversee the legal requirements for property matters at the University including acquisitions and disposals, retail and commercial leasing, licencing and capital development and will work closely to assist our Property, Facilities and Maintenance team with its dynamic portfolio of property, corporate and project work.
Key Responsibilities: Provide high level interpretive and strategic advice to our Property, Facilities and Maintenance team and key executive members including the Vice-Chancellor and the Chief Operating Officer.
Support the University to develop contracts which are reflective of operational principles and practices.
Interpret and advise on the University's statutory and legislative compliance responsibilities.
Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams on complex and innovative projects.
Engage with internal and external stakeholders to promote legal awareness across the University and provide or coordinate appropriate training and continuous improvement development.
Liaise with and manage our relationships with external law firms to progress matters.
Collaborate with, and provide support to, other members of the team on a range of corporate matters.
You will bring to the role: Relevant legal qualifications, with admission to practice in Western Australia and hold an unrestricted practising certificate.
Legal experience (5+ years of post-admission experience) in property and commercial law.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills with staff and clients at all levels, including the ability to maintain confidentiality.
Demonstrated problem solving and research/analytical skills including the ability to obtain and interpret information and make specific legal recommendations.
Ability to work autonomously, harmoniously and co-operatively as part of a team to provide quality client service.
Additional Information: Must have current work rights in Australia matching the tenure of the role.
Based in Perth, WA.
