About the role We currently have a fantastic opportunity for a part-time or full-time legal secretary to join our Melbourne office supporting our senior Litigation and Dispute Resolution (L&DR) practice.
The Melbourne L&DR practice advises corporate clients in large commercial disputes including cross-border contractual relationships, which may involve major tort or contractual claims and class actions in the oil and gas industry, sporting, banking, property sectors, insurance, professional indemnity as well as public inquiries with government and regulatory authorities.
As a legal secretary you will be involved in all areas of administrative support, including, but not limited to, managing crucial team administration, handling client queries and managing the monthly billing process.
What does the role involve? The L&DR team is a highly collaborative and goal-oriented group. You will play a crucial role within the team in ensuring the practice runs smoothly.
On any given day you could be:
Managing diaries, juggling and arranging appointments, booking rooms and ultimately ensuring client needs are met Providing administrative support to partners and fee earners in the practice group Preparing documents and correspondence Managing the team's filing including electronic files Managing confidential firm information and opening new matters Maintaining and inputting client data into client relationship software (Interaction) Handling client queries Managing the monthly billing process Ideally you will have 2 years' experience as a legal secretary or experience in an interactive administration role. While experience working within a law firm is advantageous, candidates with a certificate or diploma in legal services or business administration are encouraged to apply.

Strong Microsoft Office skills are essential, as are excellent communication skills. You will be capable of using automated billing systems and client relationship management software (We use Elite 3E and InterAction but can teach you these if you haven't used them previously).
