Kennedys is recruiting a proactive and enthusiastic Legal Secretary to join our friendly team in the Melbourne office.
Working closely with one of our most highly regarded Partners and a team of six fee earners, you will be responsible for providing first-class legal secretarial support on a day-to-day basis.

In Australia, Kennedys has offices in Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney, and Perth with over 200 staff.
The Melbourne office advises on Financial and Professional Lines, Employment Practices Liability, Casualty, Liability, Healthcare, Commercial Litigation, and Commercial matters (including cyber).

Key Responsibilities: Producing a variety of draft correspondence and basic court documents for the Financial and Professional Lines team.Assisting in handling of litigation, including completing pro-forma documentation and any other associated documentation in relation to the preparation of claims and litigation as directed by the lawyers.Monthly billing using Elite 3E and liaising with the team's solicitors to ensure accurate quarterly client reporting.Performing conflict checks and setting up new files accurately and speedily on instruction.Attending to filing of documents in Courts and Tribunals and preparing documentation for service.Email and diary management including electronic filing of emails in a timely manner.Assisting with the preparation of briefs to counsel and experts (including collating documents and preparing indexes).Booking international and interstate travel and accommodation for fee earners on a regular basis.Assisting with the organisation of business development and marketing events for your team.Collaborating with local marketing and reception teams.Attending to clients both on the telephone and in person in a professional manner.Who We Are Looking For: Extensive experience working in a similar legal secretarial or support role.Experience with litigation and case and file management.A background in insurance preferred but not essential.Experience using Elite 3E and iManage.Ability to handle all correspondence and transcribing dictations (where required).Proficient in Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.Please let us know if you require any additional support or adjustments to be made in order to submit your application to Kennedys.
