The Opportunity We are seeking to create a pool of talented legal professionals to join our dynamic Legal and Legislative Services team. Our Legal and Legislative Services team comprises diverse and experienced Legal Practitioners who enjoy a collaborative work environment and good work-life balance.
There is a strong focus on creating opportunities for people to be mentored on complex matters and, when possible, providing opportunities to undertake work in areas of personal interest.
In these positions, you can expect to represent the Chief Executive Officer of DoT in Courts and Tribunals primarily on matters relating to Road Laws; the Transport (Road Passenger Services) Act 2018 and Marine laws.

There are currently the following positions available: 1 x Legal Officer (SCL1) - permanent position available for filling in February 2025.1 x Legal Officer (SCL 1) or 1 x Legal Officer (SCL2) - fixed term position available for immediate filling for a period of 12 months, with the possibility of extension(s) or permanency.Suitable applicants will be placed in a pool from which appointments will be made for these or similar future vacancies (fixed term or permanent) that arise within the next 18 months from date of first appointment across the Department of Transport.
