The Legal and Legislative Services unit has an exciting and professionally rewarding opportunity for a suitably qualified, enthusiastic and dynamic individual who wants to be part of a dedicated team serving the WA health system.
This job advertisement is for a Legal Officer (SC2) position.Should you be successful, you will join a unique team within the WA health system that works on a wide range of legal and legislative matters across the Health portfolio. As a Legal Officer, you will be supervised and mentored by a Senior Solicitor as we are committed to ensuring your professional development through facilitating a practical and hands-on supportive learning environment. You will be required to work effectively and collaboratively with all areas of the Department of Health and other stakeholders. There are opportunities to work on complex matters with ongoing guidance and support, and gain exposure to emerging areas in Health. Our legal work is multifaceted, sensitive and high profile, including providing legal advice to support the development of health policy in areas such as human reproductive technology and surrogacy, abortion, human tissue and transplants, medicines and poisons, control of tobacco products and public health. In addition, we prepare a variety of legal documents, for commercial matters, prosecutions and legislative instruments. You will be an integral part of a dynamic, supportive and collaborative team of lawyers, legislative advisers and administrators, where you will have some level of autonomy.
