Strategic Policy and Legislation (SPL) has wide reaching responsibilities that support the operation of Queensland's justice system.
SPL has teams that focus on specific aspects of policy and legislation in civil or criminal law, as well as a specialist project team that has been established to develop policy and legislative reforms in response to the Disability Royal Commission.
The Legal Officer will be placed in a policy and legislation team having regard to SPL's business needs.
To thrive in this role, you will need: Capacity to develop an understanding of the key issues and emerging trends in the justice system, and their implications for the department and government; Capacity to develop an ability to formulate policy and legislative proposals, particularly in relation to justice matters; Demonstrated ability or capacity to work effectively as a team member and support other team members and engage with stakeholders to build rapport; Structure messages clearly and succinctly, both orally and in writing, and seek to understand the audience to tailor your communication style and message accordingly; Demonstrate accountability for the execution and quality of results through professionalism, persistence, and transparency; and To behave in an ethical, respectful and culturally sensitive manner.
