Multiple Legal Officers for a Commercial Law team in a large Federal Government Agency Your new company This department is responsible for developing strategy and policy in relation to immigration and counter-terrorism and border security. This Legal Group is seeking multiple Legal Officers from the APS4 - APS6 level to join the Commercial Law team. Your new role The multiple positions in the Commercial Law team will see you responsible for providing expert legal advice on a range of grants and funding agreements, ICT procurement, and new contract agreements. Whilst reporting to the Senior Legal Officer, your duties will include: Providing legal advice relevant to anything related to commercial law. The advice may be on high profile, complex, technical or sensitive issues and focus on delivering accurate legal analysis, options and recommendations, and the strategic management and assessment of legal risks. Liaising with, and actively developing and maintaining working relationships between the Legal Group, the wider Department and with external stakeholders Representing the Department's interests and positions during liaison and negotiation with external stakeholders. What you'll need to succeed In order to be successful in this position, you must have a degree in Law from an Australian and hold a practising certificate along with the following: Proven experience within the APS providing legal advice. Strong communication skills, verbally and written to be able to clearly provide concise advice. Ability to understand relevant portfolio legislation quickly. Demonstrated ability to maintain detailed knowledge of specific legislation, case law, directions, instruments, principles and issues of relevance to the Department. A baseline clearance and the ability to go through extensive security checks.
