Legal Manager (Investments, Transactions and Advice)Allygroup is seeking a future-minded Legal Manager (Investment Transactions and Advice) to join a high-profile commonwealth agency based in Melbourne on a 14-month secondment. About the Role Reporting to the Director, the successful candidate will support the Legal team in delivering high-quality legal advice and services related to the organisation's investments, operations, and business activities. This role emphasises Australian and offshore structured investment transactions, encompassing fund investments, co-investments, joint ventures, direct investments, reconstructions, and disposals across various asset classes in both public and private markets.
The successful candidate will also work in close partnership with the General Counsel, Head of Legal, and Legal Directors to ensure the organisation's investment and operational activities align with international best practices and comply with all applicable laws. By delivering comprehensive legal advice and services, the Legal Manager will safeguard the organisation's rights, effectively addressing potential risks and enabling informed strategic decision-making. This role is crucial in cultivating a proactive legal environment that not only supports the organisation's overarching objectives but also ensures strong legal governance throughout all transactions.
Some of the key duties include: Providing advice and manage investment transactions across different geographies, asset classes and structures.Overseeing the implementation of public and private investment transactions including negotiation of transaction terms.Coordinating investment managing agreements framework and ensuring compliance.Driving continuous improvement within the legal team by developing and updating precedents, legal policies, procedures, guidelines, and positions.Managing key stakeholder relationships across teams, including internal investment, tax, operations, and procurement.Promoting efficiencies including monitoring and managing legal fee expenditure.Our ideal candidate will have: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders.A commercially minded approach and the ability to adapt to a constantly evolving environment.Experience in managing legal risk and drafting commercial contracts.A solutions-driven mindset, with the ability to provide concise, well-structured, and commercially focused legal advice.The capability to participate in and contribute to projects of strategic importance to the Legal Team as required.Key Requirements: A law degree from an Australian tertiary institution or other legal qualification recognised for the purpose of admission to legal practice in Victoria or another State of Australia.Admitted to practice in Victoria or another State of Australia as a solicitor and be currently eligible to hold a Victorian legal practising certificate.Post-qualification experience of 5-8 years.What's in it for you: Impactful Work: Contribute to maintaining the highest standards of integrity.Professional Growth: Opportunities for continuous learning and career advancement.Supportive Environment: Work within a collaborative and supportive team.High Salary: Attractive remuneration package.Applying for this role
