About the Role The Legal Liaison Officer for the Planning and Development functions will provide support by being a central contact point to communicate with and coordinate matters of a legal nature in conjunction with Legal Services.
The role is responsible for ensuring that critical deadlines are met with regard to legislative processes; this includes adjustment of procedures to keep in line with legislative amendments.
Support is provided on legislative interpretation and application, drafting of legal documents; as well as reviewing reports/documentation.
This position is expected to have a well-developed knowledge of relevant legislation as well as Local Laws, Planning schemes and other legal documentation/requirements.
This position will ensure the smooth running of information required in any appeal process on the section's behalf for Planning and Environment Court appeals.
The role also ensures council's interests are protected through the scrutiny of titles office documentation including, but not limited to, easements, survey plans, covenants, transfers and general consents, for accuracy before referring those documents for delegated signing.
About You Our ideal applicant will have experience in drafting legal documentation, preparation and appropriate system recording of professional correspondence, documents, and reports as required on behalf of Planning and Development for Planning and Environment Court Appeal matters.
High level of understanding of the principles of law and legal processes which includes a strong knowledge and understanding of general litigation practices, legal issues and legal reasoning within a regulatory or investigative operations environment.
