WHO WE ARE The GS Legal Department ("GS Legal") plays an essential role in the formulation and implementation of the strategy of GS. The advice and counsel provided by GS Legal to all areas of the firm is critical to maintaining the firm's commitments to its clients, regulators, and shareholders and to promoting its culture of excellence and integrity. GS Legal's goal is to provide advice that protects the firm's financial well-being and reputation, and assists the various businesses in executing transactions and evaluating the associated risks.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES As a vice president in the Global Banking Markets Legal group, you are expected to be pro-active in guiding the businesses on legal matters and substantial transactional involvement will be a feature of this position. You will work closely with business professionals across the firm, as well as with outside counsel. Your responsibilities will include:
Providing legal support to the fixed income business with a particular focus on the mortgages businessProviding legal support for the drafting, reviewing and negotiating of financing and security as well as fixed income derivatives arrangementsWorking with teams on structuring issues taking into account regulatory/reputational concernsResponsibility for relationships with external counsel and ensuring appropriate legal comfort is in placeInteracting with the traders to address legal issues as they arise in day-to-day trading activitiesReviewing, monitoring and driving implementation of regulatory developments relating to fixed income business including the mortgages businessLiaising and coordinating with other relevant groups throughout the firm, including other members of the legal department, credit, treasury, compliance, controllers, operations, taxInvolvement in reviews of new markets and new productsABOUT GOLDMAN SACHS
