Join us in this newly created role as the Legal Education Program Manager, where you will lead the development of our legal capability strategy.
About the Role
Reporting to the Executive Director, Legal Practice, you will oversee the strategic delivery of the legal education curriculum and key initiatives that enhance the legal performance of OPP staff.
As part of your role, you will work closely with senior stakeholders to define and embed legal capability standards and metrics, measure and report on performance, and address any gaps in the system. This role also involves leading the Legal Education Program Lead, ensuring effective coordination and leadership of the legal education initiatives across the OPP.
Key Responsibilities include:
Develop and deliver a strategic legal capability plan that aligns with the OPP's overall Strategic Plan and supports our legal education needs.
Define and monitor legal capability standards and performance metrics for OPP legal staff, ensuring alignment and understanding across the legal practice.
Oversee the delivery of the legal education curriculum, programs, and initiatives, ensuring they are evidence-based and meet organisational priorities.
Identify gaps, issues, and risks in legal capability and implement solutions to address them.
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to leverage best practices and innovative approaches in legal education.
Provide leadership to the Legal Education Program Lead, ensuring accountability, performance, and wellbeing expectations are met.
About You To succeed in this role, you will bring:
Strong knowledge of indictable criminal law and procedure in Victoria or another Australian jurisdiction.
Proven experience in strategic planning and implementing capability development initiatives in a legal environment.
Ability to engage and collaborate effectively with stakeholders, defining legal capability and performance standards.
Analytical skills to measure, monitor, and report on key metrics, identifying strategies to address risks and enhance performance.
A demonstrated drive to embrace innovation, apply best practices, and lead with curiosity and creativity.
A high level of emotional intelligence, excellent communication skills, and experience in leading a team effectively.
You must be an Australian Lawyer with a current Victorian Practising Certificate.
