Established by the Victorian Government, AVS is dedicated to unlocking the potential of Victoria's agricultural sector by accelerating the time from discovery to practical application.
About The Role In this position, you'll work closely with the Senior Legal Counsel and Company Secretary to deliver best-practice legal, risk, and policy frameworks. You will be responsible for drafting and reviewing contracts, supporting corporate governance, and ensuring compliance with policies across the organisation.
On any given day, you will:
Collaborate with Commercialisation team to negotiate key terms associated with a variety of Commercialisation Agreements Provide advice on general legal matters under the supervision of the Senior Legal Counsel and Company Secretary Maintain a policy register and ensure policies are up to date and accessible to the AVS team. Support the continuous improvement of governance frameworks and compliance across AVS. Develop and deliver a data security and privacy training programme to familiarise staff with AVS policies, Victorian Government frameworks and relevant legislation. Provide oversight and review of AVS' suite of data security policies to ensure consistency with the Victorian Protective Data Security Framework and Standards, comparable DEECA policies and relevant legislation. Optimise AVS's business processes through the integration of innovative technology solutions. About You This role is perfect for a recently admitted Australian lawyer seeking to forge a career in-house or in Government. Along with an interest in cutting edge innovation and your legal expertise you will have:
A tertiary qualification in law and admission to practice in an Australian jurisdiction. Proven ability to lead research and analysis, applying creative and advanced problem-solving skills to develop innovative solutions Ability to manage multiple tasks and conflicting priorities while delivering high-quality reports, documentation, and information within tight timelines Strong skills in preparing and delivering clear, concise reports, presentations, and correspondence, tailored to diverse audiences, ensuring clarity and high standards of communication. Capacity to build trust and rapport with both internal and external stakeholders, fostering collaboration, setting common goals, and overcoming barriers to effective knowledge and information sharing. Ability to gain a deep understanding of stakeholder needs and objectives, using this insight to prepare and negotiate fit-for-purpose, practical solutions. Why Join Us?
