Your journey with ATCO Australia ATCO is looking for a mid-level Legal Counsel ideally with experience in the M&A / corporate advisory, utilities and/or renewable energy sectors based in our Castlereagh Street, Sydney office.
The position will be full-time (part-time considered) for an initial 12-month fixed-term to support strategic growth projects, with the possibility of becoming permanent subject to business requirements.
The successful Legal Counsel will be responsible for providing legal support to the ATCO Australia business and will sit within the existing Corporate Services & Legal team.
Reporting to the Senior Legal Counsel, you will be joining an established in-house legal team which is highly regarded by the business, under the leadership of an experienced General Counsel and senior legal team, in a flexible and friendly working environment.
What you will contribute to: Managing various aspects of corporate transactions from due diligence to post-acquisition integrationLeading corporate transactional and commercial matters, including negotiating and drafting transaction documents in relation to acquisitions, project financing and commercial and operational contracts.Preparing, reviewing, negotiating and finalizing commercial contracts with reference to ATCO's methods of business, contractual relations and regulatory/legislative requirements.Working with business development teams on new projects including assisting with commercial contracts and general legal advice.Implementing contract management systems and ensuring that the relevant protocols are followed in relation to the contract life cycle.Reviewing and providing specialist advice or expertise associated with the contracting processes and commercially acceptable outcomes.Reviewing and assessing risk in contractual arrangements and maintaining contract review processes.Providing legal advice to ATCO's Australian entities on a broad range of issues including general commercial, corporate, procurement, gas and energy legislation.Ensuring that appropriate risk analysis is conducted, and any identified risks are managed, monitored and addressed.Exposure & Experience: Minimum 3 to 5 years PQE – experience of in-house desirable but not essential.University degree qualification in Law coupled with admission or eligibility for immediate admission to practice in NSW – must hold or be entitled to hold an unrestricted practising certificate in NSW.Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities and knowledge and application of legal principles in operation.Experience in the energy sector would be advantageous.Interest or experience with renewable energy projects and M&A will be well regarded.Why ATCO Australia?
