About The Role
In this dynamic Part-Time position, you'll collaborate with the Senior Legal Counsel and Company Secretary to deliver innovative legal, risk, and governance frameworks. Leveraging technology and strategic insights, you will shape critical systems and processes that enhance AVS's impact on Victoria's agricultural advancements.
Key Responsibilities:
Across key pillars; Legal, IP, Commercialisation, Policy Support and Data Security and Privacy, you will:
Collaborate with our Commercialisation team to negotiate critical agreements and unlock innovation.Draft and review contracts including Funding Agreements, Collaboration Agreements, License Agreements and other Agreements.Deliver forward-thinking advice on legal matters and champion compliance with public sector and organisational frameworks.Enhance AVS's governance frameworks, ensuring alignment and consistency with Victorian Government policies and standards.Develop and deliver data security initiatives, embedding cutting-edge solutions to protect sensitive information.Be the key point of contact for IT systems service providers, and security incident responses.Optimise AVS's business processes through the integration of innovative technology solutions.About You
This flexible part-time role is ideal for a lawyer passionate about technology-driven innovation and governance. Bring your curiosity and commitment to excellence alongside:
A tertiary qualification in law and admission to practice in Victoria.Demonstrable experience in drafting, advising, negotiating and structuring commercial and research agreements.A relevant postgraduate qualification in intellectual property law would be highly desirable but not essential.Proven ability to lead research and analysis, applying creative and advanced problem-solving skills to develop innovative solutions for complex systems, processes, and procedural challenges with a significant impact on the business.Ability to manage multiple tasks and conflicting priorities while delivering high-quality reports, documentation, and information within tight timelines.Strong skills in preparing and delivering clear, concise reports, presentations, and correspondence, tailored to diverse audiences, ensuring clarity and high standards of communication.Capacity to build trust and rapport with both internal and external stakeholders, fostering collaboration, setting common goals, and overcoming barriers to effective knowledge and information sharing.Ability to gain a deep understanding of stakeholder needs and objectives, using this insight to prepare and negotiate fit-for-purpose, practical solutions.Why Join Us?
