About Brisbane 2032
The Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games (the "Games") will be the largest event in South-East Queensland's history, with the potential to deliver transformational change to our region. As the name suggests, the Brisbane Organising Committee for the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games ("Brisbane 2032") is responsible for organising the Games. Some of Brisbane 2032's operational responsibilities include: raising revenue through sponsorship, ticketing and the sale of Brisbane 2032 merchandise, sourcing the goods and services required to deliver the Games, managing the temporary overlay and operation of the venues and recruiting thousands of volunteers as well as many other elements that are essential in staging a world class global sporting event.
With the countdown towards the Games firmly underway, you have the opportunity to be part of the foundational Brisbane 2032 team in supporting the delivery of this transformational once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for all Queenslanders.
About the Position
The Legal Counsel – Intellectual Property reports to the Director of Legal and will sit within the Brisbane 2032 Rights Protection Function. This role will provide commercially astute legal advice and support to Brisbane 2032 across intellectual property and rights protection matters.

Attracting and retaining this commercial revenue is crucial to ensuring that the Games can be delivered in a cost neutral way without the need for any contribution of public monies. The Rights Protection function plays a vital role in protecting Brisbane 2032's commercial assets and rights relating to the Games.
The Legal Counsel – Intellectual Property will support the delivery of the rights protection program including through monitoring and enforcement against unauthorised use of intellectual property and ambush marketing. This will grow to include the prevention of ticket touting, importation and sale of counterfeit merchandise and unauthorised broadcasting.
The Legal Counsel – Intellectual Property will provide high-quality legal advice on intellectual property matters relating to Brisbane 2032. This includes the registration and management of Brisbane 2032 trademarks, obtaining clearances for key intellectual property assets, and securing licensing and assignments of intellectual property in line with Olympic Host Contract requirements.
